Program Background and Information
Out of President Lester A. Lefton’s the “Year of Yes” speech, the charge was given to initiate the University Strategic Plan as it relates to our quest for Excellence in Action. One part of this Strategic Plan calls for a more welcoming, inclusive atmosphere for our students, faculty and staff. Dr. Brown with the Division for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion has commissioned Inclusive Actions Movement as the way for the university to bring Inclusive Excellence to Kent State University. Inclusive Actions Movement emerged as a result of the University Diversity Action Council’s AD HOC Personal Responsibility Task Force that was formed under the leadership of Reverend Ronald Fowler. The task assigned was to develop a statement of personal and collective responsibility to support and participate in activities designed to show our commitment to inclusive excellence. The Inclusive Actions Movement initiative takes the university’s commitment to diversity – as articulated in our strategic plan – to a new and innovative level … to all faculty, staff and students of Kent State University!
Inclusive Excellence is achieved when all individuals on all Kent State campuses feel welcomed, respected, free to express their views, and encouraged to achieve their fullest potential.
To unite the Greater Kent State Community through personal actions that build relationships and promote acceptance, understanding and mutual respect for one another.
