Provost's Faculty Associates for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
The Provost's Faculty Associates for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
Purpose
The purpose of the Provost’s Faculty Associates for DEI is to support recruitment and retention efforts focused on inclusion and the populations of underrepresented faculty, staff and students. These efforts will support increased numbers of highly qualified faculty, staff and students to join the academy of teachers and scholars at Kent State University (KSU). Efforts will enable new hires and new students to focus their attention and talents on areas of priority for personal and professional success while building a more inclusive environment at KSU. Two faculty members with curiosity, passion, ideas, and leadership skills, and who are committed to serving others and strengthening KSU's diversity have been selected as associates.
Responsibilities
In consultation with the Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Provost, DEI Associates are expected to develop projects that span two academic years. Each DEI Associate will be appointed for one academic year with the expectation that the appointment will be renewed for a second academic year. The Associates will work closely with other supporting offices at KSU; will report to the Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; and will spend fifty percent (50%) of her/his workload on activities related to the area of focus. The current appointments began in the 2010 fall semester.
