Pre-College/Upward Bound Programs
*June 1st 2013 - TRiO to Host 4th Annual TRIO Upward Bound Programs Senior Recognition Luncheon Celebration *
The Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in collaboration with the TRIO Upward Bound Parent Advisory Councilwill host the Fourth Annual TRIO Upward Bound Programs Senior Recognition Luncheon celebration on Saturday June 1, 2013, 11:00am – 1:30pm. This event will highlight the success of the TRIO Upward Bound Senior Class students of Math/Science, Public Health and CLASSIC programs. This year's speaker is TRIO Alum, Derrick Hall, PharmD, JD, MBA., Attorney at Law, Elder & Hall, LCC. $100.00 will sponsor a table of eight, and individual tickets are $10.00 each.

TRiO
The Kent State University Pre-College/TRiO Upward Bound Programs, housed within the Division of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, is committed to providing equality, preparation and access for populations seeking entrance to post-secondary education. Pre-College/TRiO Upward Bound programs include three federal TRiO Upward Bound programs that seek to increase educational opportunities and diminish barriers for first-generation, low income students and families through comprehensive services in targeted school districts. TRiO programs help students overcome, class, social, academic, and cultural barriers to higher education.
Services provided by the Pre-College/TRiO Programs include:
- Specialized outreach events and tours
- Opportunities for college students to mentor high school students
- Employment opportunities
- Summer Academies
Pre-College/TRiO Upward Bound Programs is designed to provide academic support to eligible students interested in education beyond high school. Pre-College/TRiO Upward Bound Programs offers a challenging and exciting year round program which includes leadership, academic, career, cultural enrichment, and social activities that help students realize the benefits of pursuing a college education. The program and its services are at no cost to the participant!
If you think that you might be interested in going to college, but don't know how to make it happen, the Upward Bound Program can help you. Students who actively participate in Upward Bound may continue to receive services until they graduate from college or after five years from the date of high school graduation.
