Support is provided to develop distance education in any of the three delivery formats supported by the University.
For Web-based Courses, using Blackboard, please complete the Online Course Development Form. The FPDC will, by summer, be providing training on integrating Learn into your teaching. They also provide individual consultations on using Blackboard to improve the effectiveness of your teaching.
For Online Learning Pedagogy Support, please visit the eCenter for Online Pedagogy. The eCenter provides:
- Learning Space: Basic principles and guidelines to help you get started understanding processes, pedagogy, technology and research that support creation and delivery of online instruction. Checklists, templates and examples are available for administrators, faculty, and course builders to help speed and guide the process of creating high quality online courses.
- Support Connection: Moving from a face-to-face teaching environment to delivering instruction online requires a coordinated effort between faculty, administration, instructional designers, and educational technologists. The Support Connection page lists contact information of departments responsible for guidance, help, and support of distance learning at Kent State.
- Peer Network: Future growth and success in distance learning and teaching at Kent State is guided best by professionals who are actively involved designing, developing, and delivering instruction online. The Peer Network page provides an opportunity for KSU faculty, administrators, and support staff to share their experience and learn from colleagues across the country.
- Supplemental- Technology used to complement a traditional learning experience (online syllabus, Powerpoint presentations, course notes, etc.)
- Blended or Hybrid- A mix of face-to-face and online learning experiences. Course schedules are altered.
- Distance Learning- Course exists solely online. Interaction may be synchronous (facilitated) or asynchronous (self-paced).
