University and Community

Kent State University, established in 1910, is Ohio's second largest state university. The Kent Campus consists of approximately 824 acres.  More than 100 buildings valued over $400 million are situated on the beautifully landscaped campus.

Kent State University is designated Doctoral Research Extensive status by the Carnegie Foundation.

The Kent Campus has approximately 800 full-time faculty. The university participates in a consortium with The University of Akron and Youngstown State University to form the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. Its campus is located about 20 minutes east of Kent.

Kent, a city of nearly 30,000, is located 35 miles southeast of Cleveland and 12 miles east of Akron in a peaceful suburban setting. Kent offers the cultural advantages of a major metropolitan complex, as well as the relaxed pace of semirural living.

There are a number of theatre and art groups at the university and in the community. Blossom Music Center; the summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra and the site of Kent State's cooperative programs in art, music, and theatre; is only 15 miles from the Kent Campus.
