The IRC supplies three special collections that are also available for checkout in adherence with the checkout policies:
The American Sign Language and Deaf Programs materials were purchased primarily from a series of grants through the Ohio Department of Education to support American Sign Language and Interpreter Training Programs at both Kent State University and the University of Akron. A substantial number of materials were donated to KSU from the University of Akron's Interpreter Training Program when it closed.
In 2002, Dr. Manna received a grant from the College's International and Intercultural Education Program to develop this collection of award-winning children's and young adult books.
This collection focuses on education and law.
All checkouts are done at the front desk of the IRC with a photo ID. Patrons must complete a patron information form the first time they check out items in order to be in the computer system. All fines must be paid and overdue items returned before further items can be checked out. If fines and overdue items are not settled by the end of the semester, notices will be mailed and, if still not settled, then patrons' university accounts will be charged.
