Workshop Course:  LEGO Robotics for the Young Inventor

Cost: $80 per child, per session before April 30th & $100 after that date

Target Audience:  Grades 3, 4, and 5

Dates: 

Session One:  June 16 – 19; 1-3:30pm

Session Two:  July 14 – 17; 1-1:30pm

Location:  AT&T Classroom – Moulton Hall – Kent State University

Workshop Description: 

Build, program and watch your own creation come to life in this Lego WeDo Rebotics camp!  This is the perfect workshop for the young inventor interested in working with Legos, motors, sensors and computers.  Hands-on activities allow participants to develop their skills in science, technology, and engineering. During the course of this workshop the camp participants will build 12 models that contain more than 150 elements including a motor, tilt sensor, motion sensor, and Lego bricks.

Workshop Course:  Get in the Game:  Computer Coding & Programing

Cost: $80 per child, per session before April 30th & $100 after that date

Target Audience: Grades 3, 4, and 5

Dates: June 30 - July 3; 9 - 11:30am

Location: AT&T Classroom – Moulton Hall – Kent State University

Workshop Description:

Let your child's love for technology and creativity take them to the next level as they learn to create their own games and animations!  Camp participants will be introduced to an easy to use iPad app designed for kids for computer coding.  By the end of the camp participants will have the tools needed to design and create their own cartoon or game.

Workshop Course:  Lights! Camera! Stop Motion Animation!

Cost: $80 per child, per session before April 30th & $100 after that date

Target Audience: Grades 4, 5, and 6

Dates: June 30 - July 3; 1:00 -3:30p.m.

Location: AT&T Classroom – Moulton Hall – Kent State University

Workshop Description:

Camp participants will get a hands-on experience in creating stop animation movies like Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.  This camp will introduce them to the technology needed for using clay, Legos, or model figures to create their very own stop motion animation.  Camp participants will learn how to storyboard ideas, create them, record, and edit footage.  The finished projects can be saved and uploaded on the Internet to share with family members and friends.  We have the all technology needed for their masterpiece, participants will just need to provide their own clay, Legos and models.

Workshop Course:  Young Technology Explorers:  Creative Technology Tools and Beyond

Cost: $80 per child, per session before April 30th & $100 after that date

Target Audience:  Grades 1, 2, and 3

Dates:  July 7 - 10; 9 - 11:30am

Location:  AT&T Classroom – Moulton Hall – Kent State University

Workshop Description: 

Participants will the opportunity to use their imagination to create, movies, books and games.  They will develop computer skills that will help them during the coming school year and have fun at the same time! They will learn how to use apps such as Kidpix, and Toontastic to create animations, Photo Story to create videos with sound and music and Tiny Tap to make interactive games. This workshop is guaranteed to generate excitement about learning at home and in the classroom and demonstrate to students how to use digital tools in constructive way.

Workshop Course:  Secret Code for the Young Programmer

Cost: $80 per child, per session before April 30th & $100 after that date

Target Audience:  Grades 1 and 2

Dates:  July 21 – 24; 9 – 11:30am

Location:  AT&T Classroom – Moulton Hall – Kent State University

Workshop Description: 

Coding or programming can be fun, even for young students. In this workshop for first and second grade students, the participants investigate a series of apps that teach them basic programming concepts in a fun game like way. Students will investigate apps on iPads, such as Kodable, Light-bot and Daisy the Dinosaur. These apps present students with a series of challenges that they overcome by using programing commands. To them it seems more like playing a game then learning. Without even knowing it the students are learning basic program.The students will have a great learning experience and have a lot of fun!

Workshop Course:  Become the Game Maker

Cost: $80 per child, per session before April 30th & $100 after that date

Target Audience:  Grades 4, 5, 6, & 7

Dates:  July 28 - July 31; 9 - 11:30am

Location:  AT&T Classroom – Moulton Hall – Kent State University

Workshop Description:

This is a hands-on experience for participants to learn to develop their own games using free tools that can also be downloaded at home.  Instruction will include understanding more about game design and what makes a good game, game development using tools for the PC and the Mac, basic programming and logic, and the use of outside multimedia resources.  By the end of the session participants will have created their very own game and be able to share!

Workshop Course:  Minecraft KSU

Cost: $80 per child, per session before April 30th & $100 after that date

Target Audience:  Grades 4, 5, 6, & 7

Dates:  July 7 - July 10; 1-3 p.m.

Location:  AT&T Classroom – Moulton Hall – Kent State University

Join other Minecraft enthusiasts to collaborate on a Minecraft design & build team challenge. Participants will work together and build in creative mode on a private Minecraft.edu server.
