Workshop Course:  Game Design

Cost: $70.00 per child

Target Audience: Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8

Dates: June 10, 11, and 12; 1:00 -3:30p.m.

Location: AT&T Classroom – Moulton Hall – Kent State University

Workshop Description: Participants will learn how to use Game Maker software to develop their own game. Instruction will include understanding more about game design and what makes a good game, game development using Game Maker for the Mac and PC, basic programming and logic, and the use of outside resources (pictures and video) within a game.  Register Here:  https://commerce.cashnet.com/rcet

 

Workshop Course:  Lights!  Camera!  Action! Let's Make a PSA! 

Cost: FREE thanks to the support from Buckeye Community Health; Limited to the first 25 particpants

Target Audience: Grades 4, 5, and 6

Dates: June 17, 18, 19, 20; 1:00 -3:30p.m.

Location: AT&T Classroom – Moulton Hall – Kent State University

Workshop Description: Participants in this course will be introduced to technology to make their own public service announcement. Through this course students will explore the importance of nutrition while developing their skills in technology and communications.  In addition to creating individual projects, students as a group will create a public service announcement on nutrition to be used by The Ohio State University Extension to teach other youth the importance of healthy eating habits.  This workshop is a collaborative effort between Kent State University and The Ohio State University Extension's Expanded Food and Nutrition Program.  Register Here: THIS CAMP IS FULL!

 

Workshop Course:  Leadership & Technology for Girls – Grades 7, 8, and 9

Cost: $75.00 per child

Target Audience:  Grades 7, 8, and 9

Dates:  June 17, 18, 19, 20; 9:30am to 11:30am

Workshop Course:  LegoWeDo Robotics - THIS CAMP IS CLOSED

Cost: $45.00 per child

Target Audience:  Grades 3, 4, and 5

Dates:  June 24 & 25, 2013; 1:00 -3:30p.m.

Location:  AT&T Classroom – Moulton Hall – Kent State University

Workshop Description:  The LEGO® Education WeDo workshop introduces young students to robotics. Students will be able to build LEGO models featuring working motors and sensors; program their models; and explore a series of cross-curricular, theme-based activities while developing their skills in science, technology, and engineering. During the course of this workshop the students will build 12 models that contains more than 150 elements including a motor, tilt sensor, motion sensor, and LEGOTHIS CAMP IS FULL

Target Audience:  Grades 1, 2, and 3

Location:  AT&T Classroom – Moulton Hall – Kent State University

Workshop Description:  Students will develop computer skills that will help them during the coming school year and have fun at the same time! They will learn how to use Kidpix, PowerPoint, Map Maker, Diorama Designer on computers and Toontastic and Educreate on ipads – some of the most popular tools used in the early elementary grades. Workshop Course:  Creative Technology

Cost: $45.00 per child

Target Audience:  Grades 3, 4, and 5

Workshop Description:  Students will use innovative and fun internet tools to create interactive posters, produce video with still images and music on computers and create humorous animated movies using apps on ipads. The students will also learn how to add fun special effects to movies taken on the ipad. Workshop Course:  iMovie for Kids

Cost: $20.00 per child (Plus $4.99 for the purchase of the iMovie app)

Target Audience: Grades 4, 5, 6 and 7  

Dates: July 24, 2013; 10am to 12pm  

Location: AT&T Classroom – Moulton Hall – Kent State University  

Workshop Description: Participants in this course will learn how to use iMovie to make video presentations.  A perfect tool for future classroom presentations!  For this workshop participants are being asked to bring their own devices* with the iMovie app already installed.  This ensures the participant is comfortable with the device and they will get to keep the footage they make during the course!  For those needing to borrow a device an additional $5.00 charge per device will apply.  Upon workshop registration directions install the iMovie app on the device will be provided.  Register Here:  https://commerce.cashnet.com/rcet

Workshop Course:  Making Memories:  Parent/Child iMovie Workshop  

Cost: $30.00 per pair (Plus $4.99 for the purchase of the iMovie app) 

Target Audience: Adult and Child  

Dates: July 25, 2013; 10:00 to 2:00pm

Location: AT&T Classroom – Moulton Hall – Kent State University  

Workshop Description:  Parent/Child duos will learn how to use iMovie to make their very own movies to share!  In the morning half of the workshop participants will learn how to use iMovie.  Participants will then explore the Kent State University Campus and shoot some footage.  Participants can either bring a packed lunch or purchase lunch on campus.  The group will come back together in the afternoon to edit, produce and share their creations! For this workshop participants are being asked to bring their own devices* with the iMovie app already installed.  This ensures the participant is comfortable with the device and they will get to keep the footage they make during the course!  For those needing to borrow a device an additional $5.00 charge per device will apply. Workshop Course:  Introduction to Digital Photography

Cost: $75.00

Target Audience: Grades 5,6,7, and 8

Workshop Description:

Workshop Course:  Exploring the World of Virtual Environments & Minecraft

Cost: $75.00 per child

Workshop Description:  Participants will be introduced to basic concepts in programming and coding using Scratch, a programming language developed by MIT.
