The mission of the Association of International Students in Education, Health and Human Services (AIS EHHS) is to promote communication, awareness, and understanding among people of various cultures and strive to become more knowledgeable about the host culture of the United States.
History
The Association of International Students in Education, Health and Human Services (AIS EHHS) was established in 1996 by a group of students from the Russian Federation and the former Soviet Republics who were attending Kent State’s College and Graduate School of Education, Health and Human Services at that time.
Dr. Steve Michael, Kent State University's former Vice-Provost, is considered to be a founder of the Association. He was also the organization’s adviser from 1996 -1998.
The Gerald H. Read Center for International and Intercultural Education has always played a critical role in the development of the Association and continues to be a significant contributor to this day. The Center hosts AIS EHHS in its office and helps organize the Association’s activities.
