International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP)
Funded by U. S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by IREX
The International Leadership in Education Program brings outstanding teachers from the Near East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Western Hemisphere to the United States to learn about the latest advancements in educational methodology and policy, and to develop the leadership skills necessary to implement and promote change within their schools and home communities.2011 - 2012

It is the fifth time that Kent State was selected to work with the International Leaders in Education program! This year, 16 secondary educators from 8 countries in the Middle East, South Asia, Central and South America, and Africa have come to Kent for spring semester.

2009 - 2010
For the fourth year in a row, Kent State University was awarded the ILEP grant. Kent State University is the only institution that has had the honor of receiving this grant every year since its inception. In the 2009-10 academic year we are honored to host 16 scholars from 11 different countries including Sub-Sahara Africa, Northern Africa and the Middle East, South Asia, Southeastern Asia, and South America.
2008 - 2009
Kent State was once again selected to host ILEP ($150,000) for 16 secondary school educators from 12 countries including Sub-Sahara Africa, Northern Africa and the Middle East, South Asia, Southeastern Asia, and South America. Once again these scholars were cultural ambassadors as they are in graduate classes, public schools, and generally contributed to the internationalization efforts at Kent State University and in education in northeast Ohio. They also featured as a part of two events to help internationalize K-12 schools in NE Ohio.

2007 - 2008
Kent State was selected for the second time to work with the International Leaders in Education program ($150,000) which brought 18 secondary educators from northern part of Africa, southern Asia, and southeastern Asia in an exchange program for spring semester. These secondary educators audited classes, conducted internships in public schools, and received specialized technology, English and special academic seminars.

2006 - 2007
Kent State University was awarded $70,000 to host 16 secondary educators from the northern part of Africa, south Asia and southeastern Asia in an exchange program for spring semester. These secondary educators will audit classes, have internships in public schools, and receive specialized academic and cultural programming. This is funded through IREX by the US State Department.
