Program Description:

There has been a dramatic increase in the number of children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in American schools, including those with autism, Asperger Syndrome, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder - Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS). The Autism Spectrum Intervention Specialist Certificate (ASISC) program is designed to provide participants with the skills required to understand the theoretical conceptualizations of an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), develop evidence-based lifespan intervention programs, collaborate successfully as a member of intervention teams, support individuals with ASD being served within general education contexts, and effectively address the needs of families. The ASISC Program will provide participants with an interdisciplinary curriculum that includes didactic and applied learning experiences under the direction of recognized scholars in ASD.

Admission/Prerequisite Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited university with a GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • The program is designed for professionals in the fields of special education, speech-language pathology, psychology and other education, health and human services fields involved in the education, assessment, and/or treatment of individuals with ASD and their families.

Courses Required:

Total of 21 hours.
