Early Childhood Education Technology
Two year associate degree programs in Early Childhood are offered at the Salem, Ashtabula, and Tuscarawas campuses of Kent State University. Visit the web site for each campus for information on these programs.
Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.E) (KENT, SALEM)
The Early Childhood Education (ECED) undergraduate program offers students the skills and resources needed to obtain Ohio licensure for early childhood, ages three to eight, preschool through primary.
Licensure Requirement (not required for graduation): Candidates seeking Ohio licensure are required to pass specific assessments in order to apply for licensure. See Ohio Department of Education-Educator Preparation website for more information on assessments specific to licensure type. Taking and passing the licensure tests prior to graduation is encouraged but not required.
Master of Education & Master of Arts in Early Childhood
The M.Ed. and M.A. programs are designed for teachers and other professionals in fields related to education that wish to pursue advanced study in teaching, leadership, research, or public policy and advocacy.
Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)
This degree is for those students with non-licensure bachelor degrees who wish to obtain Ohio licensure for Early Childhood (age three to grade three). Consult the MAT program website for further details. Admission requirements include the Graduate Record Exam, Praxis I math, a 2.75 undergraduate G.P.A., and an interview.
If you hold an Ohio Early Childhood P-3 Teaching License you may earn an endorsement to teach grades 4-5.

These courses/workshops may be used toward the completion of a master's degree in:
