Graduate Degree in Sport Administration

This program provides students with the knowledge, skills and experiences that will enable each individual to become successful professionals in the field of sport administration.

The core of the program provides students with a knowledge base in management theory and application in both sport and recreation settings. In conjunction with their advisor the student will develop a program of study, using the available electives, which will help them to meet their educational and professional goals.

This program also requires a culminating experience: an internship, research project or thesis.

Prerequisite Coursework

Undergraduate degree preparation may be in a number of fields. Dependent upon the coursework selected by the student and their adviser, certain specific undergraduate coursework/experiences may be necessary. A minimum overall GPA of 3.00 is necessary for unconditional admittance. Applicants who have an overall GPA below a 3.00 MUST submit a standardized test score such as the Graduate Record Exam, Miller Analogy Test, Graduate Management Test, or some other approved equivalent standardized test.

The student and/or faculty may request an interview prior to admission to the program.

(Graduate coursework completed at other institutions may be considered for transfer consistent with University and College Guidelines. Application for transfer hours should be submitted along with the regular application materials. Substitution(s) of coursework is allowed, but not encouraged, using the "Request For Adjustment in Student Program Requirements" form, which must be approved by the student's advisor, the Graduate Coordinator and the School Director.)
