Graduate Student Services

Welcome to the Office of Graduate Student Services website. Our office is a full student service office which provides support for students' progress throughout their programs. This includes maintaining student records, and clearing students for graduation in the College of Education, Health, & Human Services.

Our website has been designed to help current and prospective students find information they need. If you cannot find the information you are seeking, please feel free to contact the staff in the Office of Graduate Student Services. We will be more than happy to help you.

Important Graduate Dates for Spring 2014

A list of deadline dates for items such as graduation, oral defense of dissertation, oral defense of thesis, withdraw and exit from current semester, etc. Also, dates of when the semester begins and ends, graduation commencement ceremony, and dates for when the University is closed due to holidays.

April 18       Deadline for graduate level students graduating in May 2014
                     to have all incomplete grades from previous semesters cleared 

May 2          Final deadline for all dissertation and thesis corrections 

May 4          Classes end 

May 5- 11   Final Exam Week

May 9          College of EHHS graduate commencement

Week of July 7, 2014 - Spring 2014 diplomas mailed to students' permanent

Important Graduate Dates for Summer 2014

May 19              Intersession begins

May 21-30        Dates for withdrawal from Intersession

June 9              Summer I and II classes begin

June 13-29      Dates for withdrawal from Summer I

Jun 16-Jul 13  Dates for withdrawal from Summer II

June 13             Last day for those graduating August 2014 to file approved
                           dissertation proposal and IRB statement of approval,
                           thesis or project proposal

June 13             Deadline to apply for graduate level August 2014 graduation 

July 2                 Final date for oral defense of graduation level

July 14               Summer III classes begin

July 18-Aug 3   Dates for withdrawal from Summer II

July 18               Deadline to:

″Submit dissertation electronically

″Submit thesis electronically

″Submit signature pages to 409 White Hall

July 25               All incomplete grades from previous semesters must be cleared

Aug 8                  Final deadline for all dissertation and thesis corrections

"The Guidelines for Preparation of Theses and Dissertations are designed to assist students and typists to maintain the high degree of accuracy and consistency which are hallmarks of well-written documents. Prior to the thesis/dissertation process, students should familiarize themselves with the procedures described in the guidelines. It is assumed that the guidelines will be used in conjunction with the approved style guide.

Theses and dissertations follow American Psychological Association, 6th ed. as their reference guide. The link below will take you to an APA Cheat Sheet provided by the University Libraries giving you some of the highlights of this edition. Graduate Assistantship Application

An appointment made by KSU to full-time graduates who display a high level of scholarship and academic excellence. The award is merit based, not need-based, and includes stipend and tuition.
