Basic Instruction Courses
The Physical Education Basic Instruction Program (PEB)
This program offers a wide variety of activities and sports. These classes are open to all KSU students.
The PEB Program aims to help participants:
- maintain fitness
- review and refine activity and sport skills
- learn new activities and skills
- develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle
Tuition and Fees
Tuition and fees are the same for 11 hours and over. This means a graded activity class like one of the PEB courses can be taken without increasing your tuition cost.
A sampling of one-credit classes:
This class is an introduction to the sport of BroomBall, a fast-paced game played on ice. Students will be introduced to the basic rules, skills, and knowledge required to actively participate in BroomBall.
This course introduces the game of Wallyball for fun and recreation, as well as acquisition of competitive skills. Through class participation, students will learn the rules of the game and the skill techniques of Wallyball.
Beginning Ballroom Dance
Designed for the beginning social dance student, this class is for those who want to learn how to partner dance in a recreation setting. Skills are taught sequentially, from the most basic steps through challenging variations.
Presenting the DVIDA bronze syllabus for Latin Dances, the class covers four Latin/Rhythm dances, including the Rumba, Cha-Cha, and Samba, plus a fourth dance -- the Bolero, Mambo, Merengue, East Cost Swing or Salsa. The class includes proper technique, rhythm, and approximately 10-15 figures for each dance.
Beginning Ice Skating
With a focus on introducing and developing the basic skills of ice skating, students will learn and be able to demonstrate the fundamentals of balance, movement, and safety on ice.
Basic Figure Skating
An ice skating course designed for students who desire to continue in the development of skating techniques, they will learn body control, balance and more powerful skating.

Beginning Ice Hockey
Students will be introduced to the basics of Ice Hockey as a form of exercise, while at the same time, building an interest in achieving a higher level of motor ability on ice.
This course is designed to develop students' cycling skills while learning to ride on the road. Students increase fitness while learning the skills to become a good road cyclist. They also learn proper cycling etiquette, as well as how to change a flat tire.
