Ending Hunger a Mile at a Time

My name is Helen McWilliams. I have been an adjunct faculty member in Kent State University’s Department of Biological Sciences for more than 12 years.

I just set the Guinness World Record for Fastest Half Marathon Dressed as a Chef by running 2:25:55 in the Goodyear Half Marathon as part of the Akron Marathon Series on Aug. 13.  I ran in full chef costume while carrying a 6 1/2 pound stockpot the entire time. I hope to set the female record during the Akron Full Marathon on Sept. 24.

I am trying to raise money for the Akron Canton Foodbank.  As of a week ago, enough money had been raised to provide 440 meals per the food bank.  If interested in supporting my cause, please search www.crowdwise.com, select “find an event” and search “Helen McWilliams” to donate or mail a check (indicating my name or “Guinness attempt”) made out to “Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank” to:

Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank
350 Opportunity Parkway
Akron, OH 44307

Thank you so much for your support, and look for me at the Akron Marathon!
