Super Service Saturdays

Looking for something to do on the weekends?

Join us for Saturday service opportunities. A great way to make a difference, meet new friends and feel great about what you've accomplished. Join us once or every Saturday - you decide! Transportation is provided! Most trips leave at approximately 8:30/9 a.m. and return no later than 1 p.m.. Contact Elizabeth Bosworth at 330-672-7876 or by e-mail at eboswort@kent.edu.

Make a Difference Day

Make A Difference Day is the most encompassing national day of helping others. Held annually on the fourth Saturday of October, millions of Americans are rallied into a single day of action to help change the world. Everyone can participate. Find a need in your community and use the power of Make A Difference Day to mobilize your family, your neighbors, even your entire town into a day of action. Make a Difference Day will take place on October 22, 2011.

 

Service Trips

Appalachian Service Trips

Join us for a weekend serving in Appalachia. We will be leaving Friday, April 13th at 3:00 pm and returning on Sunday, April 15th by 6:00 pm. Volunteers will be part of an educational and social analysis program on the Appalachian region and focus on social and environmental justice issues. Videos, discussions, guest speakers, and tours will introduce volunteers to the community and help volunteers immerse themselves into Appalachian culture. A trip to a Mountain Top Removal Site is planned. The cost of the trip is $120. Please return the attached Hold Harmless and Medical forms and check or money order payment to Kent State University - Appalachian Immersion to Moulton 204 by Tuesday, March 27th. What to Bring and Expect



Tutoring and Mentoring

Interested in providing tutoring or homework help to local school children? Volunteer opportunities exist at two local community centers to work with and mentor youth in grades K-11. Programs run Monday through Thursday from 4-6 p.m. Volunteer one or two days per week depending on your schedule.

Refugee Response

Tutoring and homework assistance for Burmese youth every Thursday from 4-9 p.m.. Transportation is provided.


New after school tutoring program in Akron, Ohio for Asia, Inc. Program runs Monday-Thursday and you can volunteer one day for a few hours or more days and more hours - depending on interest and time. Volunteers will provide homework assistance, mentor and assist with transition concerns. Email agosky@kent.edu for more information.
