Endorsement in ESL
Endorsement in ESL is a non-degree program at Kent State University designed for teachers who already hold a baccalaureate degree and a valid teaching license in the State of Ohio.
Twenty-one credit hours of coursework as distributed below are required for a recommendation of endorsement to the Ohio Department of Education. Substitute courses may be considered by the advisor, but substitute coursework should not be older than 10 years. The specialty portion of Ohio State PRAXIS II: ESL is required for a successful recommendation.
Prerequisites: Baccalaureate and a valid teaching license in the State of Ohio (may be taken concurrently). A TOEFL score of 600 is required for non-native speakers of English.
