Sigma Tau Delta

Application for Membership (Deadline: February 13, 2008)

The Induction Ceremony for New Members will be on Tuesday, January 29th at 5:30 PM.

Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honorary Society, is a service organization for those English majors who demonstrate academic excellence, have an interest in literature and the English language, and want to foster literacy. We stand for sincerity, truth, and design.

 

Kent State’s Xi Mu Chapter provides leadership skills, scholarship opportunities, internships, and other career opportunities.

 

This year Sigma Tau Delta will be working with Club English to collect gently used or new children’s and young adult lit books for Akron Children’s Hospital throughout the Fall semester.

 

This semester Sigma Tau Delta is working on a monthly newsletter and online zine.

 

Members will have the opportunity to submit to either of the two national Sigma Tau Delta publications, Newsletter and The Rectangle, which feature creative and critical writing.

 

           

We meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month at 5:00 PM in 203 the English Undergraduate Student Lounge on the 2nd floor of Satterfield Hall.

 

Requirements for membership in Kent State’s Xi Mu Chapter include the following:

            - Sophomore class standing (36 completed hours)

            - Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0

            - A 3.2 in English courses
