Welcome to the website for the Department of English at Kent State.  As you navigate this site, you will discover that we are a capacious Department, embracing a broad range of English studies, including literature, rhetoric and composition, linguistics and English as a second language, creative writing, and cultural studies, at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  As scholars, teachers, and students with a variety of approaches and interests we work across fluid boundaries.  Linking our diverse endeavors is a commitment to teaching and scholarship focused on the historical, social, and cultural implications of writing, reading, editing, and analyzing texts in a variety of contexts inside and outside the University.
