English 11001S and 11002S Introduction to College Writing I S
This one-year sequence is an alternative to Eng 11011 for students who either test into the two-semester sequence or prefer to take their first college writing course at a slower pace than the one-semester Eng 11011 course permits. The goals and objectives for Eng 11001-Eng 11002 sequence are the same as the goals and objectives for Eng 11011. Syllabi for Eng 11001 and 11002 each include writing two essays and a reflective writing, reading a novel, and composing one or more multimodal projects each semester, and these courses are always evaluated by portfolio.
Students who pass Eng 11001 are expected to continue with the same instructor at the same time for the second half of the sequence, Eng 11002. Students who are eligible for Eng 11002 and feel they have a legitimate reason to change their instructor/section between Eng 11001 and 11002 should consult their instructors or the Assistant Writing Program Coordinator (206B SFH – 330 672-2124). The Department of English will place a permit online for those students who are eligible to take Eng 11002.
Students who pass Eng 11002 or 11011 with a “C-” or better and have at least 24 hours of course credits are eligible to take 21011, the Tier II writing course.
