The Department of English at Kent State University offers a wide variety of programs leading to B.A., M.A., M.F.A., and Ph.D. degrees. Our undergraduate programs include Literature, Teaching English as a Second Language, and the Writing Minor, as well as numerous internship opportunities. At the graduate level we offer master's programs in Literature and Writing, Teaching English as a Second Language, and Creative Writing and doctoral concentrations in Literature and Rhetoric and Composition.

Senegalese Scholar to Speak at Kent State University on October 24 and 25 Alphonse Raphaël Ndiaye, Ph.D., a visiting scholar of Boston University from Senegal, will speak about â€œKinship Joking Relationships as Indigenous Conflict Resolution Mechanisms in West Africaâ€ at Kent State University on October 24 at 7 p.m. in Ritchie Hall, Room 214, following a reception at 5:15 p.m. on the first floor of Ritchie Hall.

â€œRace on Trialâ€: A Symposium on Constructing Identity in the Black Community to be Held Sept. 26 Race, gender and social justice will be the topic of a symposium at Kent State University on Sept. 26 that will bring together northeast Ohio academics and social justice leaders. Rhonda Williams, Ph.D., associate professor of history and director of the Social Justice Institute at Case Western Reserve University will give the keynote address titled "Evidence of things done: Race in the 21st Century". There will also be a panel discussion and action workshop.
