Our mission is to cultivate academic excellence through experiential education that bridges academic objectives with civic engagement designed to promote community well-being. We envision to distinguish Kent State University's academic culture with engaged experiential learning.

The OEECE believes in sustaining a systematic process for encouraging:
  • Innovation in teaching that ignites a sense of commitment to knowledge, insight, and civic purpose

  • Scholarship of service and civic engagement that makes what is discovered useful and visible beyond the academic community

  • Collaborations that are authentic, cohesive, and educationally and socially meaningful 

 
Guiding Principles of Experiential Learning at Kent State University

 

Principle 1 Enhance the relevance of course and non-course related content to real-world issues.
Principle 2 Favor hands-on student development and application of knowledge beyond the classroom.
Principle 3 Promote psychosocial development through civic engagement, reflection, and other forms of hands-on learning
