Experiential Education can be defined as “an umbrella term describing teaching methods which utilize deliberate and purposeful engagement to influence student knowledge, skills, values, and promote the public good.” Experiential Learning is “direct engagement in experiences that promote academic relevance both inside and outside the classroom, enhances disciplinary significance, and encourages an understanding of real-world issues.”

The Continuum of Engaged Experiential Learning is a four category sequence in which students and staff follow to build their skills year after year. Starting with community-based learning, students will build the leadership skills they need to achieve success in whichever careers they choose. By following the continuum, faculty will have the taxonomy to build their students' skills.
