Design and Merchandising Scholarships

National Retail Federation

The National Retail Federation (NRF) is the world’s largest retail trade association, representing retailers from the United States and more than 45 countries. As a part of the NRF, the NRF Foundation provides several scholarships to provide for retail’s future. Scholarships offer awards up to $25,000 and the chance to experience special events Retail's BIG Show and Retail’s Digital Summit. Only students from NRF member universities, such as Kent State, are eligible to apply.

YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund

The YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund encourages gifted and enterprising young people to pursue careers in design, merchandising, retailing and business. YMA scholarships are designed to support educational expenses. They also provide an opportunity for students to network with industry executives and attend a private internship fair.

YMA FSF Scholarship

  • $5,000 scholarship and travel to New York awards gala in January

YMA Geoffrey Beene National Merit Scholarship

  • Up to $30,000 scholarship and travel to New York awards gala January
  • Eligibility and details:
    • Must be $5,000 YMA FSF scholarship winner
    • A case will be distributed individually if you are selected as a candidate

Design Scholarships

Joe's Blackbook

Joe’s Blackbook provides connections and consulting across the retail and fashion sphere. As a part of their philanthropic aims, Joe's Blackbook is committed to supporting the next generation of fashion designers. The scholarship fund goes toward recipients' senior year tuitions.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America, Inc. (CFDA)

The Council of Fashion Designers of America, Inc. was founded in 1962 to represent America’s foremost menswear, womenswear, jewelry and accessory designers. As a separate entity, the CFDA Foundation includes several student programs and competitions to recognize and support emerging design talent. All scholarship funds go to educational expenses.
