SUPPORT SERVICES

Tutoring Referrals

Advisors in the Office of Advising and Academic Services will provide an extensive list of referrals for tutoring by subject to students interested in receiving tutoring services.  Referrals for writing and mathematics tutoring are also available through our office.

Basic Skills Workshops

Small group workshops are offered each semester to College of the Arts students who would like to improve their time management and study skills.  Group size is limited to enable the advisor to work closely with each student to examine and improve their current time management and study skills.  Interaction with other students in the group is emphasized and encouraged.  Students may find the dates of these workshops by checking the Support Services Schedule on this website or by calling the Office of Advising and Academic Services.

Probation Meetings

Early each semester, mandatory informational probation meetings will be held for students placed on probation for the first time.  Topics such as the levels of academic probation, grade point calculation, freshman forgiveness, support services and dismissal criteria are covered in these meetings.  Letters are sent to all students placed on probation for the first time with the dates and times of the meetings.

Probation Counseling

Specialized counseling is available for all students on academic probation by calling the Office of Advising and Academic Services for an appointment.  Advisors are trained to provide assistance to students on probation or students who are not on probation but find themselves in academic difficulty.  Advisors will help students accurately assess their academic situation and provide information regarding time management, study skills, and campus and community resources.  Appropriate referrals for tutoring services are also available.
