Kent State Geauga and Regional Academic Center Hold Commencement Ceremony

Kent State University at Geauga and the Regional Academic Center will hold its commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 13, 2017 to conclude both the spring semester and the 2016-17 academic year.  Over 150 students who are earning their associate or bachelor degrees will be honored during the ceremony, which begins at 4 p.m. at Parkside Church in Bainbridge.

Elizabeth Norieka, a Geauga County native and award-winning journalist and television news anchor for Fox 8 News in Cleveland, will be serve as the keynote speaker. During her more than decade long career traveling the eastern part of the country persuing various journalistic opportunites, she's received numerous awards including Associated Press Journalist of the Year, West Virginia Broadcaster's Association's Best Reporter four years in a row, and WVBA's Best Anchor two years in a row.

The campus will present it's first Distinguished Alumni Award to Nicholas Giardina. Nick attended the Geauga Campus and graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He felt that the individual attention from the professors and staff were so instrumental in his development as a student and person, that after he experienced success with his own accounting business, he wanted to give back. He did this though the Giardina Lindeman Endowed Scholarship to assist students with the cost of higher education. Nick serves on the Dean's Advisory Board and lives in Middlefield with his family.

The event will be streamed live via the campus YouTube Channel (see link below) and memories will be shared on social media using #KSUGGrads
