Trademark Licensing

Kent State University trademarks are nationally recognized, are registered in the State of Ohio and the United States, and are a valuable asset to the University.  Accordingly, to ensure that University trademarks, including word marks, design marks, logos, or symbol, are used appropriately and consistent with the mission of the University, a license is required for the use of any Kent State University trademark on or in association with any good or service including the following:

  • The production of merchandise for any commercial or non-commercial purpose including the sale, giveaway, or internal use on any merchandise bearing a Kent State trademark; and
  • For display on a website, pamphlet or other item suggesting that the University is a sponsor or partner, or that it endorses or promotes a good or service.

For information about Kent State's marks and logos, including how to properly use the marks and how to obtain the artwork, visit University Communication and Marketing.

If you would like to become a licensed vendor, please follow the directions provided by Affinity Licensing, the University’s licensing agency.

If you would like to produce an item for personal, internal, fundraising, or giveaway use, one of our licensed vendors can create the product for you.  You can access the most up-to-date list of licensed vendors by selecting "Kent State University" from Affinity Licensing's Collegiate Clients page.

For any questions about trademarks and licensing, please contact the Office of General Counsel at legal@kent.edu or 330-672-2982.
