The GHH Lab is always looking for new partners and collaborators as we pride ourselves in always being accessible to help neighborhoods and communities whenever and wherever possible. With this in mind, we would like to talk with students interested in our work, irrespective of education level (high school, undergraduate, graduate, or post graduate), other researchers, government agencies and nonprofit groups, both domestic and international, who may be interested in exploring possible health and/or hazard collaborations. Additionally, we welcome the opportunity to speak with private industry, especially in regards to testing new software and technologies suitable for health and/or hazard related field work. Lastly, but certainly not least, we are always available to speak with any community member, community group or neighborhood association that may need help mapping. Even if you are not certain what it is specifically you would like to do, please do not hesitate to contact our lab personnel.
The GIS | Health and Hazards Lab and the Department of Geography hosted sixteen 8th grade students on Friday, February 22 as part of a Science Discovery event hosted by the STEM Research and Education Center, Urban League of Greater Cleveland, Office of the President, Office of the Provost and HR Outreach Office. Students learned what the interdisciplinary field of geography has to offer and actively participated by collecting their own spatially-encoded video across campus. Once the data were collected, students interacted with the software used to display the data and gained a sense of what geographers do on a daily basis.
