International Undergraduate Non-degree Programs

International Undergraduate Guest

An international applicant who would like to take a limited number of undergraduate courses for credit. In order to apply as a guest, students must have graduated from high school or be currently enrolled at another institution. International guest students can only enroll for up to 18 semester hours and cannot earn a degree. Typically, this student type is reserved for international students who are currently enrolled at another U.S. institution and would like to take one or two classes at Kent State.

Admission Requirements

Student is required to submit English language proficiency requirement, college transcript/detailed marksheets (Certified English translation and original language)* and permission form from current institution to be considered for the program. 

*If student is attending US institution, official transcripts are required for admission purposes. We cannot accept copies.

 

International Visiting Student

In order to apply as an international visiting student, students must have graduated from high school or be currently enrolled at another institution. A visiting student is short-term and not working toward a degree at Kent State. Students may remain in this special status for one academic year or until a maximum of 45 semester hours of credit is earned. Typically, this student type is reserved for international students who are not currently enrolled at a U.S. institution but would like to study abroad at Kent State for an academic year or less.

Student is required to submit English language proficiency requirement, college transcript/detailed marksheets (Certified English translation and original language) and permission form from current institution to be considered for the program. 

 

Student from Exchange Partner

This student type is reserved for international applicants who are currently working toward the equivalent of an American bachelor's degree at the tertiary level of education at their home partnering institution with Kent State University. A partnership could be a Memorandum of Understanding or Agreement between an institution and Kent State. An exchange student is short-term and not working toward a degree at Kent State.

Post-Undergraduate (Non-Degree Option)

A student who has received a baccalaureate degree from a college or university, yet wishes to take additional undergraduate courses. Post-undergraduate non–degree-seeking applicants – individuals just interested in taking additional undergraduate coursework. Student is required to submit college transcript/detailed marksheets and college graduation certificate/diploma to be considered for the program. 

Please Note: If you are a former Kent State University student who has not attended any other college or university since your prior enrollment, you do not need to reapply. Contact the Registrar’s Office, 330–672–3131 or visit the Admissions homepage of the Regional Campus you plan to attend.
