Honors Student Life

We hope that all Honors College students, residents and commuters alike, will use your time on campus to make new friends and participate in the many activities we have to offer.  We hope you set a goal to get involved in at least one organization/activity during your first year of college.  Start something new that interests you!  Yes, academic success is important.  That success will be more easily attained if you are connected to your environment through a balance of social and academic activities.

Here are some suggestions for making connections from second-year Honors students.Students Conversing at Honors Picnic

  • Become involved on campus; step out of your comfort zone
  • Don’t live with high school friends
  • Meet people outside of your residence hall floor
  • Understand the importance of grades
  • Have better time management; be more organized
  • GO TO CLASS!
  • Get acquainted with students in class
  • Don’t underestimate the challenge of college coursework
  • Talk with professors during office hours
  • Don’t open credit card accounts
