Expand Your Horizons through Study Abroad / Away Programs
There are many reasons to study abroad or away from your college campus. You may want to learn a new language, live in a new culture, or earn college credit in a non-traditional manner. Regardless of your reason for choosing a study away program, you will have a life-changing experience. Your world will expand, and your perspective about yourself in that world will never be the same. The Honors College encourages its students to participate in a study abroad or away program, either domestic or international. We can to help you find those opportunities, and we offer scholarship and stipends which may help you to afford those opportunities as well. Domestic Programs
Columbus Program in Intergovernmental Issues (CPII). Students from a variety of academic disciplines are placed in semester-long internships in Ohio’s state government in Columbus during this fall semester program. Students attend briefings, take a course in state government, and conduct research on public policy issues.
Washington Program in National Issues (WPNI). Founded in 1973, WPNI is a semester-long program offered each spring in Washington, D.C. Students from a variety of academic disciplines serve as interns in offices or organizations such as think tanks, lobby groups, media organizations, public defender services, government offices, etc.
National Student Exchange (NSE). Kent State University is a member of the National Student Exchange. Through this program, you have the opportunity to study at one of over 170 other institutions of higher education in the U.S., its territories, or Canada.
International Programs

Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching (COST). Kent State University is a member of COST. As an education major, you may choose to complete your student teaching assignment in one of eighteen different countries. For more information visit room 304 White Hall.
Kent State University in Florence: Semester and Summer Programs. The programs offered at Kent State’s beautiful Palazzo dei Cerchi in Florence are open to students from many majors. Founded in 1972, many coursework opportunities from general education to major classes are offered through the Florence programs.
Kent State University in Geneva Semester. The Geneva Program was started in 1977 and is open to students throughout the United States and Canada. This experience includes the opportunity to intern with an international organization and travel to numerous European locations.
Kent State in the United Kingdom-England and Northern Ireland. Our United Kingdom exchange partners include the University of Leicester (England) and the University of Ulster (Northern Ireland). A wide variety of academic disciplines are available for study at either of these locations.
Ohio International Consortium (OIC). If, after researching Kent State University programs, you don’t find the program that fits your academic, cultural, or geographic goals, try browsing the programs offered through OIC. Kent State is a member of this partnership formed among the thirteen state universities in Ohio. This arrangement makes available to Kent State students study away programs offered by member institutions.
