Guest of Honor University Artist/Lecture Series

The Guest of Honor University Artist/Lecture Series brings speakers of international acclaim to Kent State to present a lecture of interest to the entire community. In our selection of speakers, we endeavor to represent a broad range of distinguished authors, artists, scientists and social commentators that will create a unique and valuable contribution to the cultural life of the university and Northeast Ohio. The lectures are free of charge and open to the general public. The Guest of Honor University Artist/Lecture Series is coordinated by the Honors College and sponsored by the Office of the Provost.

Cuban-American novelist and poet Cristina García will deliver a lecture titled “Reading Fiction in the Modern World” on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the KIVA as part of the Kent State University Guest of Honor University Artist/Lecture Series.

World-Renowned Writer, Speaker, and Activist Parker J. Palmer to Deliver Lecture on Democracy at Kent State University

Parker J. Palmer, world-renowned author, activist, and founder of the Center for Courage & Renewal, will speak as part of the Kent State University Guest of Honor University Artist/Lecture Series on Tuesday, February 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the African Community Theater located in Ritchie Hall.

Palmer is the author of nine books including best-selling and award-winning titles Let Your Life Speak, The Courage to Teach, A Hidden Wholeness, and Healing the Heart of Democracy.
