Scholarship Renewal Requirements

Scholarship Renewal Requirements

Honors College scholarships are available to undergraduate recipients at the Kent Campus for a maximum of eight semesters, provided the recipient maintains a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 at the close of each academic year and completes at least one Honors experience per semester for a total of eight Honors experiences.

For scholarship renewal, Honors College scholarship holders must complete two Honors experiences at the close of the first academic year, four at the close of the second year, and six at the close of the third year.

All recipients of renewable scholarships will be evaluated at the end of each spring semester.  Those who fail to meet the gpa requirement but have at least a 3.15 cumulative gpa will have their scholarships continued for the fall semester of the following academic year only.  Continuation for spring semester will require a cumulative gpa of 3.25 by the end of the fall semester.  Students whose cumulative gpa falls below a 3.15 will have their scholarships withdrawn.  A student's scholarship probation for insufficient Honors work will be for one semester only.  During this time the required number of Honors experiences for normal progress must be obtained.

Scholarship Renewal Requirements for Select Awards:

Creative Artist Awards (CAA)

Creative Artist Awards are retained by recipients should they decide after their freshman year to change their academic majors or degree-granting colleges from the original award.

Honors Scholar in Residence (HSR or HRC)

Students holding scholarships for residence hall fees are eligible for these funds as long as they live in the residence halls and meet academic requirements for scholarship renewal. Students who move off campus automatically lose the HSR or HRC portion of their scholarship.

Honors Departmental Awards

In the case of Honors departmental scholarships, the supplemental stipend provided by the department will be withdrawn should the student change to another major.
