Study Away Scholarships

Students must successfully complete at least one Honors College experience before they are eligible to receive Honors College stipends or scholarships. Stipends will be applied to tuition for the semester following the study away experience. All awards require successful completion of coursework and the Honors College Study Away Contract.

Domestic Stipends

Columbus Program in Intergovernmental Issues (CPII), $300

New York City Semester in Fashion, $500

Washington Program in National Issues (WPNI), $500

International Stipends

Accredited One-Semester International Programs, $500
Students who successfully complete one-semester accredited programs (e.g., Leicester, Ulster, Florence, Bordeaux, Geneva) are eligible for a $500 stipend.

Accredited Summer International programs, $300
Students who successfully complete accredited summer (4-5 weeks) programs (e.g., Florence, Mexico, Dresden) are eligible for a $300 stipend.

Scholarships 

Check with your Honors College advisor to see whether your Honors College scholarship can be applied to your study away program. In addition to receiving possible Honors College scholarships, students are encouraged to apply for the competitive awards listed below.

Study Abroad Honors Scholarships
A number of $1000-$1500 scholarships are available to Honors students participating in a semester or academic-year study abroad program.  Preference is given to students participating in a Kent State program.  The application is available here

Ohio International Consortium
Students can use Kent State University scholarships that are awarded by the Student Financial Aid Office or the Admissions Office for Kent State University or Ohio International Consortium sponsored study abroad programs, provided you are enrolled full time. This does not include room, board, or book scholarships, which are specific to the Kent Campus.


Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program 

The Gilman International Scholarship Program provides scholarships to U.S. undergraduates with financial need for study abroad. 

Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarships  

The Ambassadorial Scholarship Program of the Rotary Foundation is the world’s largest privately funded international scholarship program.  Students can apply by contacting their local Rotary Club.
