Cans for Cream!
During the last weeks of the Fall 2012 semester, while many activities begin to wind down within the halls, the Leebrick/Korb Community Service committee decided to seize this opportunity to promote their Community Partner, the Campus Kitchen Project (CKP). The committee, comprised of RAs Crystal Haynes, Liz Ohlin and Haley Tennant, implemented a canned food drive to raise awareness of the needs of the CKP, all the while creating a spirited competition amongst the combined 17 floors of Leebrick and Korb. Over the course of the two-week long competition, approximately 200 items were collected. These items were then donated to the CKP. Congratulations to the 2nd floor of Korb and the 4th floor of Leebrick for being the floors to donate the most during the competition! This program was also recognized by the Black Squirrel Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) as the December Community Service Program Of the Month!
The Campus Kitchen Project (CKP) is a national organization that provides healthy meals to those in need by harnessing the spirit of student volunteerism within local communities. Now in its ninth year, CKP operates on 30 university and high school campuses. For more information about the Campus Kitchen Project, please click here
