As of Friday, March 11th, Flashfleet has again started lending out bikes as they did in the Fall semester. The program was put on hiatus during the winter months, but now that warm weather is on the horizon students will be about to rent bikes to make their way about campus.
Last semester there were over four-thousand, four-hundred sixty-seven bike checkouts from when the program started. Jill Church, Associate Director of Residential Communities, said that she hopes that the program is even more successful in the Spring Semester.
Some new features this semester are that each bike will be equipped with a light to allow them to be used later at night for those who have late classes or otherwise late activities on campus. Smaller bikes will also be available to those who had difficulties riding the larger ones. The bikes can be checked out at 8am every day and returned by 11pm.
Along with students, faculty members and friends of students and faculty will be able to use the bikes as well. The bikes will be able to be checked out from seven locations: Kent Student Center, Ice Area, Student Recreational Center, Dunbar Hall Area Desk, Twin Towers Area Desk, Tri-Towers Area Desk, and the Stopher Hall Area Desk. Helmets and locks will also be provided to those who borrow the bikes.
The bikes will be checked out using students’ Flashcard and checked back in similarly.
