KIC Bid for Regional Awards

Every year at the Central Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (CAACURH) Conference, residence hall associations have the opportunity to bid for the Program of the Year Award (POY) and Student Award for Leadership Training (SALT). This year, the Kent Interhall Council (KIC) submitted a bid for each award:
Li’l Sibs Weekend 2011 was submitted as KIC’s nominee for Program of the Year.Fall 2011 Hall Council Training was submitted as KIC’s nominee for the Student Award for Leadership Training.
Over 6 schools submitted bids for each award. Both KIC’s POY and SALT nominations were selected as Top 3 Bids in their respective categories! What this means: members of KIC will be making a presentation to the region’s National Communications Coordinators (student representatives from each campus) who will vote to decide which bid receive these awards. If they win regionally, the Kent Interhall Council will have the opportunity to submit the bid for the national award (POY will be awarded at annual conference of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Incorporated (NACURH) in 2012; SALT will be awarded in January). The nationally winning institution for SALT will have the opportunity to present their program at the American College Personnel Association’s annual conference in 2012 in Lousiville, Kentucky (sponsored by ACPA’s Commission for Housing and Residential Life). The 2 national finalists for POY will present their bids at the NACURH 2012 conference and the recipient would be announced at closing ceremonies.
This is very exciting for KIC! Chrissy Francisco, Director of Leadership Development/National Communications Coordinator served as the author for the SALT Bid. Danielle Melidona, Vice President for Programming Development served as the author for the POY Bid.
