Resident Assistant Allyson Caraway describes Kentway as “a unique volunteer experience.”  Linked together through their community partnership, Centennial Court E and F has the pleasure of forming relationships with residents of the Kentway Apartments.  Kentway Apartments have partnered with the University for over ten years and with Residence Services since 2008.  Located on the edge of campus, Kentway provides affordable, subsidized apartment options to senior citizens, while offering a residential community that frequently integrates Kent State students.

The Centennial Court E and F staff plans monthly visits to the Kentway Apartments. Notable Kentway visits include Melted Crayon Art, Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year’s Celebration. The residents of the Kentway Apartments enjoy interacting at with the residence hall students and staff  while they enjoy making arts and crafts, playing bingo, or simply telling stories and talking with students. Resident Kelli Brinkman shares the following, “I enjoy going to Kentway because the residents not only are easy to talk to, but they occasionally bring their grandchildren, giving us a diverse variety of individuals to work with.”

The Centennial Court E & F residence hall staff looks forward to fostering its partnership throughout the spring semester. Upcoming events include a Game Night on April 6, and an Under the Sea/Carnival event on April 27.   Residents seeking to get involved with this fulfilling service opportunity should contact ARHD Stacy Yue, RHD Matt Musgrave, or their resident assistant for more information.
