Recyclemania is now underway!

Recyclemania is an annual recycling competition at Kent State University, and it’s back and bigger than ever in 2014.  This year, the tournament includes THREE competitions in one!

ONE – Each residence hall will have their recycling collections tracked for the eight-week competition. The residence hall team with the highest recycling collection total (measured in pounds per person) after eight weeks is crowned the winner and receives a $200 award to their hall council!

TWO – Every building on the campus of Kent State University will be tracking their recycling collections, and with this campus total, KSU will be ranked nationally among the over 561 participating colleges and universities across the country. Last year Kent State University gained 154th place and we’re looking to climb again in 2014!

THREE – Once again, Kent State University will be competing with our dreaded cross-town rivals…The University of Akron!!  It’s a head-to-head campus recycling battle, as both campuses track their recycling collections over the eight weeks of Recyclemania!  So remember one thing Flashes...don’t let that Roo out recycle you!!

Gather those bottles. Gather those cans.  And gather that paper, plastic, and cardboard to make sure they are all placed in the nearest BLUE RECYCLE BIN in your room, hallway, or residence hall lounge. Over the next two months, recycling could payoff in a big way for your hall and your campus!  Let’s go Flashes!!
