Voluntary Group Long-Term Disability

As part of the benefits package, Kent State University offers the availability of a voluntary long-term disability plan, underwritten by The Standard Insurance Company, which is available to all full-time, active Kent State University employees who work regularly at least 40 hours per week for a duration of nine months or more throughout the year.

This insurance plan provides a reliable source of income should you become disabled and unable to work for an extended period of time. The Voluntary Group Long-Term Disability information packet includes an enrollment form, rate sheet, and an overview of, and questions and answers about, the plan to help you determine whether or not you wish to participate. Some of the best features of the Long-Term Disability program include:

  • Benefits are tax free.
  • Convenience of payroll deduction.
  • No premium payments are due while disability benefits are being paid.
  • Guaranteed issue during your first 60 days of employment.

Should you decide to enroll, please complete the application and payroll authorization form and return to the Benefits Office at Kent State University.
