Overview of Medical Plans

Please see revised Medical Plans Comparison Chart for 2008 in the Resources column to the right. There is a change due to the recent changes in the Ohio Mental Health Party law.

  • Medical plans are available to all full-time faculty and staff, and may be purchased by part-time employees as well.

  • The effective date of coverage is the first full date of your employment.

  • No pre-existing condition exclusion on any of our medical plans.

  • Family coverage is extended to spouse and dependent children up to age 21.

  • Dependent Children age 21-25 must be students as defined by the plan to remain eligible.

  • Vision care is included in all of our medical plans.

  • Annual open enrollment window periods each plan year.
     
  • There are three Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) medical plans to choose from:  90/70 PPO, 80/60 PPO and 70/50 PPO.

  • Two major medical carriers, Medical Mutual of Ohio and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

  • Medical coverage opt-out option.
