Resources:
The Employment Office offers open, competitive examinations in order to establish eligibility lists for the following classifications.
Place of Examinations
Examinations are customarily given in the event of a vacancy when it is determined there is not a diverse or acceptable pool. Examinations will be given in Human Resource Services, Terrace Hall Annex (off Midway Drive), Kent, OH 44242.
General Information
Examination announcements for all specific classifications are available in the Human Resource Services Office. All applicants will be required to present photo identification prior to taking the examination.
Credit for Military Services
Applicants who are residents of Ohio and who have been honorably discharged from active duty in the armed forces of the United States are eligible to receive an additional credit of 20 percent on their examination if they obtain a passing score. Proof (i.e., copy of the DD-214 showing the type of discharge) must be submitted on or before the examination date or with the application. No credit is given if proof is submitted after the examination date.
Eligible Lists
When an applicant receives a passing score, his/her name is placed on the eligible list. The list is arranged according to examination scores from highest to lowest and is used to fill vacancies as they occur. When a department has a vacancy, it receives the names of ten eligible candidates from which to choose. The names of those not chosen within two years are removed from the list. To become eligible after this period of time, a candidate must retake and pass the examination.
Special Note
Any applicant wishing to request an accommodation or who has special needs should notify the Employment Services Office at (330) 672-2100 at the time they receive a call or e-mail to come in for the test. Kent State University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
