KSU Counseling and Human Development Center
The Kent State University Counseling and Human Development Center provides personal counseling and human development services to members of the Kent State University community (KSU students, faculty, staff, and family members), and to non-KSU area residents. Services provided include individual, couple, family, child, and group counseling for developmentally-related concerns. Counseling sessions are free to the KSU community, and a nominal fee is charged to the public. This fee can be waived if necessary. Services are provided by masters' and doctoral level graduate students preparing for professional licensure as clinical counselors. KSU Employee Relations and Development
The Division of Human Resources' Employee Relations and Development Department offers employee coaching and counseling relevant to job-related topics such as performance management, professional development, disciplinary issues, and job-related training. KSU Office of Affirmative Action
The Office of Affirmative Action exists to ensure equal access to employment and educational opportunities in support of the university's commitment to equal opportunity, affirmative action, and diversity. Services provided by the Office of Affirmative Action include providing information, consultation, and guidance to the Kent State community on affirmative action, equal opportunity, harassment prevention, discrimination, and disability matters, as well as confidential counseling on harassment and discrimination issues and concerns. KSU Psychology Department
The KSU Psychology Department includes a Psychological Clinic which offers psychological services both to members of the university community and the broader geographic community. In addition to individual assessment and psychotherapy, the clinic provides specialized services such as child and family treatment, neuropsychological assessment, treatment of eating disorders, and forensic assessment. All clinical students spend eight semesters in the clinic, under the close supervision of clinical faculty members who are licensed psychologists and actively involved in professional clinical activities. Persons wishing to make referrals to the Clinic should contact the Assistant Director at the above phone number, or have the client to be referred contact the Clinic directly. With the exception of actively suicidal or psychotic individuals and those for whom alcohol or drug abuse is the primary problem, the Psychological Clinic is reasonably flexible in whom they will accept for treatment. KSU Psychological Services
University Health Services’ Psychological Services also offers comprehensive mental health services to the university community. Services include individual, couples, and group therapy, crisis intervention counseling, psychological testing, outreach programming, and consultation services. Students, faculty or staff who have concerns about a student or a situation on campus involving mental health issues may contact Psychological Services and ask to speak to one of the clinicians. Consultation is available for both emergent situations as well as routine concerns. Psychological Services has someone available Monday through Friday to address emergencies and handle walk-in clients. Although it's best to schedule an intake appointment by phone, in cases of emergency, during normal business hours, do not hesitate to stop by the clinic or call 330-672-2487.
