Representatives from the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) visited Kent State University two days in August to conduct Town Hall Meetings on the proposed pension reform legislation and proposed changes to health care coverage.  Resources and additional information can be found here.

On May 16, 2012, OPERS pension reform bill S.B. 343 passed the Ohio Senate; the bill was approved by the  Ohio House of Representatives on Sept. 12, 2012.

STRS COMPREHENSIVE UPDATE

STRS Town Hall Meeting at Kent State

Representatives from the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) were at Kent State University on Sept. 21, 2012 for two town hall meetings on the pension reform legislation.  Select the link below to view the recorded town hall meeting.

 Many of the proposed changes will impact all STRS members, whether they are close to retirement or have only a few years in the retirement system.
