||Meditation for Everyone - Judith Eugene
Meditation helps to quiet the mind and release us from worry. For many people, though, the goal of clearing our minds of thoughts seems impossible to attain. This class teaches easy methods that focus on the process, rather than the goal. Participants will learn meditation exercises that help the body and mind to become relaxed and centered. We will also learn how the relaxation and peace of mind attained through meditation can help you gain a more positive outlook on life. We will have a short meditation demonstration at the end of class.
Faculty/Staff Exercise Program Registration
In collaboration with the School of Health Sciences, the Division of Human Resources will be offering the Faculty/Staff Exercise Program. This program will run 12 weeks, Jan. 27 to Apr. 28, 2014, with a week off over the spring break. The program will be located in the Gym Annex off of Midway Drive on the Kent Campus. Two time options are available for registration:
- Option 1 will be offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6 - 7 a.m.
- Option 2 will be offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from noon - 1 p.m.
This program is specifically designed to assist those individuals who may benefit from a more structured and personal exercise program due to a sedentary lifestyle (not currently participating in at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity three days/week for at least three months) or for individuals who may have some risk factors that require more supervision, such as hypertension, diabetes, family history of heart or coronary disease, metabolic disease, etc.

As part of the OneWellU program, Kent State University offers the convenience of attending Weight Watchers at Work meetings during your lunch time.
The Weight Watchers at Work program will hold its weekly meetings every Tuesday from noon – 1 p.m. in Heer Hall, 635 Loop Road on the Kent Campus. Look for the room assignments when you arrive at the front desk.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about the program and experience a weekly meeting without any commitment. There is a discount for Kent State employees who enroll in either of the two weight loss offerings listed below:
Weight Watchers meetings with Monthly Pass is a good choice for employees at any Kent State campus who want to try Weight Watchers but do not want a lengthy commitment. The monthly pass gives you greater control and flexibility to determine what works best with your schedule. You can attend an "at work" meeting or take advantage of unlimited access to meetings in your community. You will also be able to use e-tools to track weight, find great recipes and more. The monthly cost for a pass is $39.95, which is discounted from the price you would pay if you enrolled at a community meeting.

OneWellU Walking Program - Jan. 17, 2014
Join the free 12-week walking program for opportunities to win weekly prizes and strive for a healthier you!
Participants will receive a pedometer and log their daily steps using the American Heart Association Activity Tracker. Using this website, participants will also have the ability to track their diet, create and locate walking paths, form walking groups and access to a personalized walking plan, developed by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) in collaboration with the AHA.
Throughout the 12-week program, participants can be entered into a weekly prize drawing. Each employee that walks and tracks at least 56,000 steps/week (average of 8,000 steps/day) for the first six weeks will be entered to win a weekly prize ($50 gift card). During the second six weeks of the program, participants must track at least 70,000 steps (average of 10,000 steps/day) to be entered to win a weekly prize ($50 gift card). The participant with the most steps tracked at the end of the 12-week program, will win an Ipod Nano, the runner-up will win an Ipod shuffle. Participants also will receive weekly reminders with health information and tips included.

Kent State Fieldhouse
To keep you moving, the Kent State Fieldhouse, located on Summit Road next to the stadium, has opened it's doors to help you stay motivated! The Fieldhouse track is available for faculty and staff Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Fridays 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. only. To keep the track clean, please bring a clean pair of sneakers to change into. The fees below associated with the use of the track. Payment can be given to the front office assistant in the Fieldhouse.
- Kent State faculty/staff, Kent State alumni, Golden Flash Club members: $35 per semester OR $60 for both the fall and spring semesters IF purchased at the beginning of the academic year.
- Kent State Retirees: $20 per semester or $35 for both the fall and spring semesters IF purchased at the beginning of the academic year.
- Public: $60 per semester or $110 for both the fall and spring semesters IF purchased at the beginning of the academic year.

Student Recreation & Wellness Center
The Department of Recreational Services is proud to announce a variety of programming designed specifically for faculty and staff members of Kent State University for the spring semester. Programming includes adult swimming lessons, multiple intramural leagues and two exclusive Group X classes. All programs will be offered during lunchtime or after traditional work hours.
