PLACE OF EXAMINATIONS GENERAL INFORMATION

Examinations are customarily given in the event of a vacancy when it is determined there is not a diverse or acceptable pool. Examinations will be given in Human Resource Services, Heer Hall, 635 Loop Rd., Kent, OH 44242.

Applicants interested in being considered for a civil-service position will now follow instructions listed on the job posting directing them to register for the civil-service test through ABC Sign Up.

Testing will take place on the Kent Campus in Heer Hall (Human Resources), on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month. Once the applicant receives a passing score, his or her name will be placed on an eligibility list to fill vacancies as they occur. When a department has a vacancy, the Talent Acquisition team will provide the department with a top 10 list of eligible candidates. This new testing process is not applicable to AFSCME positions. Employees appointed to a classified civil-service position are subject to the terms and conditions established under Section 124 of the Ohio Revised Code.

All applicants will be required to present photo identification prior to taking the examination.

Credit for Military Services

Applicants who are residents of Ohio and who have been honorably discharged from active duty in the armed forces of the United States are eligible to receive an additional credit of 20 percent on their examination if they obtain a passing score. Proof (i.e., copy of the DD-214 showing the type of discharge) must be submitted on or before the examination date or with the application. No credit is given if proof is submitted after the examination date.

Special Note

Any applicant wishing to request an accommodation or who has special needs should notify the Employment Services Office at 330-672-2100 at the time they receive a call or e-mail to come in for the test.
