Kent State University sponsors various programs and events annually to recognize the many contributions of its faculty and staff. Some programs are university-wide, while others are sponsored by departments, divisions, and regional campuses within the university system.
Listed below are several university-wide recognition programs sponsored by the Division of Human Resources.
Staff employees are recognized when they reach a milestone year of continuous service with the university.
Per university policy 3342-6-07.11, classified employees receive a service achievement award — in the form of a cash payment — at every five-year milestone. View more information on the service achievement awards.
In January, 2008, unclassified employees began receiving a certificate and a gift at every five-year milestone. Employees in this group will receive a catalog with a choice of gifts available and instructions for ordering the gift of their choice.
Each spring Kent State hosts a luncheon and program to recognize Kent State employees who provide office support in departments throughout the eight campuses. The program is held in April, in conjunction with the national observance of Administrative Professionals Day.

A new program to recognize Kent State University staff who have demonstrated exceptional performance in advancing one of the goals of the university's Excellence agenda during the previous fiscal year. The nomination process for 2012 has passed. Recipients will be announced in December. Click here for more information.
Honors classified and unclassified employees who have 20 years of continuous service at Kent State. The dinner program was established in 1966 and is held every year in the spring.

Each November Kent State hosts a Veterans Day Program to express appreciation for student, faculty, staff and community men and women who are veterans or current members of the U.S. military. Members of Kent State’s Army and Air Force ROTC programs, staff from the Center for Adult and Veterans Services and students from Undergraduate Student Government help plan and participate in the commemoration.
