Tao Hu, Ph.D.

Tao Hu, Ph.D., a native of China, joins the Kent State School of Library and Information Science as a post-doctoral research fellow. A graduate Wuhan University, China, Hu will focus his research on the innovation history of the Liquid Crystal Institute (LCI) at Kent State University. He will develop and demonstrate a network framework of innovation history by using LCI-related big smart data, and then work to replicate such a network framework and apply the methodology and technology to other innovations. He has previously served as a Research Assistant at the Collaborative Innovation Center of Geospatial Technology at Wuhan University, where he studied spatial analysis, programming in Java and scripting languages, graph visualization, NoSQL database, and data extraction and crawling. He has been published in the International Journal of Geographical Information Science and Mathematical Problems in Engineering and has presented at conferences in China and the United States.
