Learn to Play Hockey is the starting program for all hockey players. In this program, participants learn four basic skills of hockey (skating, stick-handling, passing and shooting). To begin you must have completed the Basic Level 1 class from our Learn to Skate lessons or demonstrate the equivalent skating ability. Classes meet Wednesday and Sunday for 60 minutes, and run for 6 weeks.

Sugar and Spice Program is a beginning Girls hockey program. The program is designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey and to play games in a fun and learning environmentInitiation Program (for boys and girls ages 4 – 8) Find out more about the Initiation Program.
Get your game on, and start learning the real rules of hockey. After completing Learn to Play Hockey qualified players can move into IP. In the Initiation Program kids will practice and play games based on their age and ability. Sessions will be held on Wednesdays and Sundays and run eight to ten weeks.
Kent Fire (for girls 16 and under)
The Kent State Ice Arena sponsors a girl’s fall/winter hockey team called the Kent Fire. The program is available for girls 16 and under and offers developmental and recreational coaching instruction. The team practices once a week and plays a recreational game schedule against other female teams from the area. The season usually starts in November and ends in February.

This fun, highly developmental game is for kids of all ages.
Features of the game include:
Three 15-minute periods of play All penalties are penalty shots
45-second shifts, on buzzer Goalies are encouraged to handle the puck

Pre-Post High School Hockey Clinic Pre-Post Brochure
Pre-Post is a pre-season conditioning clinic for incoming Freshmen, Sophmores, Juniors and Seniors. Players will have one to two ice sessions per week and are offered a Dry-Land training session one hour before each ice time.
Men's League (for adults 18 and over)
The Ice Arena offers a non-check Men's league for players of many skill levels. The 12-week program has approximately 12 teams that compete in the fall and winter. Please contact Maggie Larke at 330-672-2415 for more information.
After completing the above programs, children then advance to the Tri-County Hockey Association Leagues.
