The Tech Spot and Tech at Night Provide Around-the-Clock Service

Throughout the 2011-12 school year, Information Services offered students more technical support options than ever.  In its third year as a personal computer repair center, The Tech Spot in Tri-Towers Rotunda resolved nearly 4,000 in-person issues for students, as well as faculty and staff.  

This academic year, The Tech Spot had its best year ever for faculty visits, with an increase of more than 20 percent compared to last year. Especially popular were operating system reinstallation, virus and spyware removal and custom part orders.  The Apple Macintosh warranty service allowed nearly 100 visitors to get their Macs repaired without having to leave campus.

The Tech Spot will continue to expand on these services and promote new offerings for the upcoming school year, including the TECHcare package and mobile phone and tablet repair.

The Tech Spot’s after-hours, residence hall tech support service, Tech at Night, also had a productive first year, with more than 700 student issues resolved.

In a survey recently conducted by Tech at Night, the majority of residents surveyed reported that they were satisfied with wireless performance in the residence halls. In fact, many students reported a much-improved experience from the fall to spring semester

Both The Tech Spot and Tech at Night will continue to be available to students beginning again this fall, with expanded support available during freshman move-in week.
